So this must be summer?

Since there are 3 weeks left before Labor Day, it must definitely be summer. Actually, it's more like the hurry up and wait. Although I do love the fact that the summer is usually reserved for barbeques and the outdoors, for kicking back with friends and family, for taking vacation and going to the shore or mountains, I do long to be back in an active lifestyle.
It seems that no matter what you hear or choose to believe, real estate even in the DC area has a long way to go to the point where it is where someone actually chooses to work in it again.
I've been working at it for the last 8 years and all I can say is that it's getting tougher and tougher unless you are aligned with a big lender or you are in an house lender for a Prosperity Mortgage or one of the brokers who has some affiliation.
It seems that no matter how good a job we do as loan officers we are so easily forgotten, particularly these days. Many people that I speak to still consider it an after thought in terms of their securing a mortgage. Although rate is still a really important consideration, the experience and knowledge of the loan officer along with the processes that they and their company have should be paramount.
When deciding on who to choose, ask your friends on who they know? Who and why they would trust with their business? Consider their experience and the organization they work with. How long they have been in the business and whether they have worked on your type of loan program in the past.
What systems do they do have in place to ensure it not costing you anymore than what it's expected to and getting you to the closing table on time. In getting the answers you need this can save you many uncomfortable days of stress and frustration.
Remember a good loan officer is someone who you can count on to give you all of the facts and information which allow you to make the correct decision for you. They must be able to disclose and explain the things that are important to you regardless of how insignificant it may seem to them.
So when you or someone who you know is thinking of buying or refinancing have them call me in for an interview and find out if I can help them or not. I am confident that regardless of whether they choose me they will at least be able to make an informed decision.
